Facelift Questions Dallas
What is a facelift from The Cosmetic Surgical Center?
Facelift is a blanket term that can be used to describe many different types of surgical rejuvenation procedures for the face (not just from The Cosmetic Surgical Center). Most often, people use the term to refer to a rejuvenation procedure directed at the lower third or two-thirds of the face and often including rejuvenation of the neck, what is sometimes also called a facelift with neck lift.
What does a facelift correct?
The traditional facelift is designed to correct sagging tissues such as:
What is the best way to rejuvenate the area around the eyes?
The area around the eyes is often the first to show age, and it can be very complicated to rejuvenate this area. Often, the best approach is a combination of surgical and nonsurgical techniques, which may include a mid-face lift, brow lift, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), and/or BOTOX® Cosmetic and injectable facial fillers. To get good recommendations about the best combination of procedures to rejuvenate this area, you should work with an experienced plastic surgeon with a track record of giving good results based on an appropriate selection of procedures.
How much younger will I look after my facelift?
How old a person looks is a very subjective measure, and it’s impossible to say definitively with a number how much younger you will look, but you can get an idea by going back through old photographs. Identify the features that a facelift can correct, such as drooping eyelids, jowls, and nasolabial folds (parenthesis lines), and look back through old pictures to determine when you started to acquire these features. That is how much correction you are likely to receive. For most people, this is more than 10 years and for others it may be 20 years or more.
How long will my facelift results last?
Again, it is impossible to determine how long your results from a facelift will last, since everyone ages at a different rate. For most people, though, the results of a facelift will last at least a decade, and when people compare their face with that of their parents at a similar age, the rejuvenating effects of a facelift can easily be seen 15 years or more after their surgery.
How long is recovery from a facelift?
Expect to take a week off work for facelift recovery. Your recovery is typically not complete at that point, but your dressings will be removed, and you can wear concealing makeup. By this time, you will also experience significantly less postsurgical discomfort. Full recovery from a facelift requires 6 weeks or more, depending on your personal healing rate.
Will people be able to tell I’ve had a facelift?
Of course, people will notice that you look younger. People will comment that you look great, refreshed, or well-rested. But the results of your surgery will look natural and subtle enough that people will likely not guess you’ve had surgery. The incisions are located in very subtle locations and tend to heal well enough that visible signs of the surgery are very hard to spot.
